Time
for
an
adventure
Experience South Tyrol. Jump into your hiking boots and out into nature. Merano is surrounded by a multifaceted landscape with cypresses in the valley and edelweiss in the mountains. Equally diverse are the possibilities for exercise, play, exploration, and adventure.
AS HEARTY AS A BELLY LAUGH… AS FLAVORFUL AS A MEAL
Merano
in
full
bloom
Vast parks and evergreen promenades are only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the merry bustle of the medieval arcades and historic places. Modern architecture compliments the charming row of Jugendstil (art nouveau) buildings. And for centuries, the therapeutic baths have attracted those looking for healing or relaxation.
Leisure time is ...
Time to Törggelen!
The leaves are red and gold, the pantries are stocked, and the table is laid lavishly: The end of the strenuous harvest season means the beginning of the ancient South Tyrolean custom of Törggelen – with hearty meals, new wine, and high spirits.
Beginning to look a lot like Christmas
A festive atmosphere, unique gift ideas and well-loved foods: The 80 stands of the “Christkindlmarkt” Christmas market on the “Kurpromenade” bring a special Merano sense of cheer to the holiday season.
On horse-back
Horse-back riding – for work or pleasure: The home of the Haflinger horses – with its many riding stables and the horse race course “Merano-Mais” – is a Mecca for horse fans and racing enthusiasts.
What the Earth has to offer
Colorful flowers, blooming and blossoming shrubs, palms, trees, and cacti: The botanical gardens of the Trauttmansdorff Castle invite you to partake in a grand tour of the planet’s flora.
Water on the skin
The element of water adds sparkle and invigoration to the Merano experience: Be it a dip, some sauna-time in the thermal baths, or a swim in the Merano arena – Everything flows.
Fun on the slopes
Whether you’re looking to hit the slopes, try daring jumps in the snow park, or simply to enjoy the snow: “Merano 2000” offers winter sports and, with its rail toboggan, attracts visitors to the high plateau during any season.
Sit tight!
For joy-riders and ambitious cyclers alike: The finest bicycle paths allow for two-wheeled fun all year-round.
Aim high
From pasture meadows over mountain forests up into alpine terrain: The high alpine tour, Alta Via di Merano, will lead you, in stages, 100 kilometers around the Texel Group. Every section is worth a trip.
Along the Waal
Accompanied by the gentle babble of the Waal (a historic irrigation canal), cozy trails will lead you through forests and groves, along fruit meadows and wineries. The Merano Waal Route connects eleven of these Waal trails.
